“Drama on the High Seas” On Friday evening May 2, there was plenty of drama at LRCS! The ninth through twelfth graders performed the play “Drama on the High Seas.” The humorous play depicted the drama of two aspiring actresses on a cruise ship.
Senior Kayleen Brown and Sophomore Melody Button played the lead roles of Emily and Corneila. Senior Austen Ellstrom played the dry-humored father of Emily, and Emma Hilgart, freshman, was the overbearing mother of Emily. With a mustache and a hat Ben Newton, junior, was able to play dual roles as the Steward and the Admiral! Aaron Hoffman, a freshman, has his debut in acting as the Purser, and Kiersten Cressman, sophomore, was his side-kick stewardess. Our British characters were played by Leah Hochmayr, sophomore, and Ashley Cressman, junior. The two “very good looking American boys” were played by juniors Jake Jensen and Jack Czeczok. The play went through many twists and turns after Emily and Cornelia’s parents left them on the cruise ship. Cornelia tries out her acting on the steward, but ends up frightening him with her made up story of an ex-boyfriend, Geoffery. Emily thinks she killed a man that fell overboard by throwing a deck chair to rescue him. The good ‘ol American boys try to console the girls and in the end all is well on the High Seas! DVDs of "Drama on the High Seas" and the spring program are available in the school office.
